When Bryan was a baby I began my search for a pattern for the perfect quiet book. I found some cute ones, but none that were anything special. Just as he was about to turn two I found a pattern that I loved. It was the cutest quiet book I had ever seen, so I decided to give it a try. I am not a master seamstress, so it took me months to finish it, but it was well worth it. He loved it and I still have it today! It is nearly worn out from the many years of use but it continues to be my favorite quiet book.
When Bryan and Bre had their first child, I wanted to make one for him. I thought I had kept the original pattern, but I couldn't find it anywhere! I even checked out vintage patterns on line but no luck! Bound and determined, I used my very limited sewing skills and Bryan's old and warn quiet book to make one for Steele. I made a few modifications (and once again it took a lot longer than it should have,) but I finally finished it!
I guess now I should get started on Nick and Chelsea's . With any luck, I will have it done by the time Tess is 2!

How do I keep missing your posts? He loves this book and so do we, he played with it so much on the airplane, it was great to have there and a perfect little suprise treat for him. He loves the velcro cars, and untying the bows, the other things he is just trying to figure out, oh and the fish, he loves those. Thank you so much, this really is such a charming and priceless book!
I missed this post too! I love the quiet book, you did an amazing job! At least Tess is a shorter name? That helps, right?!

That is so darling!! You are so talented!
You are so talented Nancy! Great job on the quiet book. That is a priceless gift to baby Steele. I have no idea where my kids quiet books ended up. They probably destroyed them!
I have that pattern! It is Vogue 1959 and has a price of $3.00 on it which tells you how old it is! I saw it is available on eBay now.
Sewing mom... I tried to leave a comment on your blog, but it's private so I couldn't. I just wanted to thank you for letting me know what the pattern is and where I can find it! I'll check it out! Thanks so much!
I just typed "vogue pattern 1959" in eBay and it was still available. I made one for my children and am in the process of making it as Christmas presents for grand children. Time flies!!
